In the world map, Singapore is just a very small island but I think it should be bigger than what I am made to expect it to be.

What I get to know from friends who have been to Singapore before, travelling around Singapore is very convenient and easy as the transportation networks are excellently provided. Singapore is also known as a garden city which is very clean and you can hardly see any rubbish thrown around. How I wish I were a Singaporean!

After doing some researches on the foods and places that are available in Singapore, I would love to start my 1-day itinerary by strolling along the colorful streets of Little India and be dazzled by the hive of activities that permeate every nook and cranny of the area in the morning.

Here I will get to visit the Mustafa centre – Singapore’s 24-hour shopping mall which has as varied a clientele as it does contents.
Next, I will want to drop by at the Bugis Street because this lane presently is touted as 'Bugis Street' by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board. From what I have been told, Bugis Street is Singapore’s largest and most exciting and crowded street shopping destination. It’s more or less like Sungai Wang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Bugis Street which has more than 600 over retail outlets offering attractive and famous fashions in Singapore is sure to satisfy the most discerning shoppers.

Besides that, I will be able to visit the places which carry the name of "Bugis" at Bugis Street. They are New Bugis Street, Bugis Square, Bugis Village, Bugis Junction, Parco Bugis Junction, Bugis Junction Towers, Bugis Cineplex, Bugis Music World, and so on. Talking about shopping in Singapore, it will be a right choice to shop at Bugis Street because this is one place that is selling clothes and goods at cheap and reasonable prices. According what I have read about this place, it is almost like Tanah Abang Market which is located in Jakarta, Indonesia. While touring around the street, I will like to try out the various roadside food vendors along the original Bugis Street and I will also not want to miss out on the famous $1 ice-cream, for sure.

As Singapore is also well-known as a city that is famous as a food center, I plan to have my lunch at some restaurants or food center which are located at the Bugis Street Village or around the Bugis Street. I will also love to try out their famous and recommended fish balls, fish cakes, beef noodles, Singapore laksa, Nyonya Kuih and other yummy yet inexpensive foods.
After filling my stomach with all those delicious food, I will, next go on a tour around the Sentosa Island. I would prefer to take a ride to the Mount Faber for a cable car ride to Sentosa Island so that I will have a good bird's eye view of Mount Faber, one of Singapore highest points, and would also not miss out on the panoramic view of the world's busiest harbour below and also be able to experience the ride going uphill and downhill at the same time.

Hopping onto the island's shuttle and heading for the Merlion, an iconic structure standing on a 23m high hillock overlooking Sentosa will be my first move once I have reached the Island. It offers a 360 degree view of Sentosa as well as a panoramic view of Singapore's southern shore. I will not want to miss out on the free bus service that runs round the island before my trip around Sentosa Island actually commences.

Sentosa's Underwater World, one of most popular attractions on the island will be my next stop after touring around the island in the shuttle bus. According to the tour brochure, it has an 80-metre transparent acrylic tunnel which allows you to view over 2,500 sea creatures in close proximity. Being transported through the tunnel by a travellator, you get the impression of having stepped under water, deep into the ocean.

With fearsome sharks, gigantic stingrays, moray eels, turtles, sea dragons and fishes of all sizes, stripes and colours swimming next to and over you will get the adrenaline rush down your body.

And I will be sure to catch the latest additions to the Underwater World family -- pink dolphins, electric eels, a dugong and piranhas and also not miss out on the feeding time, when a diver offers small fish to swarms of hungry sea creatures.

Back from Sentosa Island, a visit to the Esplanade, the latest multi-million dollar theatre located in Marina Bay and also the Merlion, which is the icon of Singapore, will provide me with the unique attractions of modern Singapore. I will want to take some photographs of myself with the Merlion and Esplanade as background together with the sunset in the distant sky. Visiting the Esplanade performing act center is also a must for those who like to see live dramas in action but I think I will skip it because I do not have an interest in it.

After this, I will wish to have an Italian buffet dinner at Pete's Place which is recommended in the Singapore food cuisine website after my whole day trip. Since it is located at Orchard Road, I will also get the opportunity to walk around the shopping malls-window shopping if time permits.

After finishing dinner, my tour continues on a driven visit past the Fountain of Wealth before paying a visit to the Singapore Flyer.

At 165 metres the Singapore Flyer is the largest observation wheel in the world. The 35 minutes in the wheel will afford me with the enjoyment of breathtaking views of the Marina Bay and the island of Singapore.
And guess what? The fun doesn't stop there. The wheel is home to wide range of shops, restaurants, activities and facilities. So I must not miss out on it too.
